Family Farming10 almanaCtates the landscape; the plundering of the oceans; the pollution of groundwater and air; the gradual impoverishment of the soil...And yet from all corners of the globe the voice of resilience is growing louder. It might be struggling, but we believe that more and more people can hear it. Re- silience is represented, for example, by the extraordinary heritage of foods (plant species, cheeses, animal breeds, etc.) that represent a wisdom far from that of the agribusiness technicians, who are constantly working to select a few hyper- productive varieties, without considering their ecological impact and intentionally ignoring the value of biodiversity. The endangered food products listed in the Ark of Taste are diametrically opposed to that type of knowledge. They are the result of complex rural and artisanal wisdom, rich in skills and practices passed down through the generations.
