After six years of conflict in Syria, there are millions of displaced persons. The largest refugee camp in Jordan, Zaatari, is managed by UNHCR and now counts a population of over 80,000 people. Ospita i richiedenti asilo dall’Eritrea e dal Sudan, che non possono essere rimpa- triati né tantomeno hanno prospettive in Israele a causa delle politiche del paese. Anche se non è tecnicamente una prigione, ne ha tutte le caratteristiche. Chen Alon e Avi Mograbi, decidono di avviare un laboratorio teatrale con le persone che si trovano lì, nella più precaria delle situazioni, seguendo i principi del “Teatro dell’Oppresso” che si propone come un percorso artistico ed estetico finalizzato al cambiamento politico e sociale. Technically, it is not a prison, but it looks very much like one. Avi Moghrabi and Chen Alon organize a theatre workshop involving some of these people, who are in the most precarious condition, according to the principles of Augusto Boal’s Theatre of the Oppressed.
